President
Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja met behind closed doors with the Speaker
of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of
Sokoto State.
The News
Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Messrs. Dogara and Tambuwal, who came into
the presidential villa together in the Speaker’s car, refused to comment on the
outcome of their meeting with the president.
Mr.
Tambuwal, who avoided questions from journalists, however, dismissed the
assertion that the meeting discussed the political misunderstanding between the
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the
APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
He said
“no, I don’t know about that”.
The
meeting, which took place in the president’s office, lasted for about 43
minutes.
There are
speculation the meeting was about the wrangling between Mr. Dogara and the
house’s former appropriation committee chairman, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
Mr. Jibrin
has accused the house speaker of budget fraud, an allegation Mr. Dogara denies.
