Andrew Yakubu says N3.04bn recovered from him was a gift

The EFCC has now arrested Andrew Yakubu for hiding $9.3 million and 74,000 pounds (over N3.04bn) in his home in Kaduna state. He has been taking to the EFCC facility in Kano State for questioning.

Mr Yakubu described the recovered funds as a gift but failed to mention the givers.

“So far, he has cooperated with our investigators by admitting ownership of the funds,” an EFCC source told The Nation Newspaper

“As I speak with you, we have taken him to Kaduna for another round of search . We are suspecting that there could be more of such slush funds hidden elsewhere. We are not prepared to take things for granted.” the source continued,

The source however did not confirm if Mr Yakubu could face trial.
